Twilight meet being held December 20th

The Charlton Harness Racing Club's new complex will be launching next week.

It was funded by over one million dollars from the local community, Local, State and Federal Government, as well as Harness Racing Victoria.

President of the club Joe Thompson says that it has taken some time to bring together.

"We've rebuilt the whole complex. As a community, It's been going about thirteen years since they started the planning for the redevelopment." explains Thompson

Some of the improvements to the facilities include;

- New complex including bar, tab and function room facilities for 250 people.

- Redesigned lawn and viewing areas

- Enlarged float parking area

- Newly surfaced white track

The club will be hosting a twilight meeting on December 20th as part of celebrations with free entry.

The first race will start at 2:25pm, finishing with the last at 6:47pm.

Mr. Thompson says that the community has really got behind it.

"The planning going ahead is to put different functions on at our race meets. Already there's a lot of enthusiasm around the local town and districts towards having this excellent facility." says Thompson

"It's something that hasn't been in this district and most centres before, so we're really looking forward to it."
