Paddy Dow Looking Forward to Draft
The life of Swan Hill's Paddy Dow is set to change forever.
The AFL draft in Sydney tomorrow night will finally give the experts, and the 18-year-old himself, the answer to where the talented youngster will begin his new career.
Many experts have predicted that Dow might be selected in the top three, however the draft this season is looking to be very unpredictable so it's anyone's guess as to when he'll be taken.
Dow says he has no idea what to expect.
"I haven’t heard any news. It’s all up in the air this year and it’s hard to predict." Dow said.
"I’m really looking forward to it; the nerves are building up a bit now that it’s so close."
The Bendigo Pioneers and Vic Country star would prefer to stay in the state however, and the chances of staying in Victoria are high; only two teams selecting in the top 10 are interstate sides.
“Staying in Victoria would be handy with being close to home but at the end of the day it’s a national competition so I don’t really get to choose. I’d be happy anywhere.” Dow said.
“I’m pretty close with all of my friends and family in Swan Hill so I’ll always try to keep in touch with them and catch up.”
Regardless of where he ends up, Dow knows that he's about to realise a dream that he didn't expect to fulfill.
"I never thought it could have gone this far or that the outcome could have been this good. I guess through hard work it’s all worked out well."
The draft begins at 6:30pm AEDT tomorrow night.
