Pre-Election Commitment from Labor "Unlikely"

The Swan Hill Needs a New Hospital Committee are refusing to give up on chasing a funding commitment from Labor, despite the state election being just 10 days away.

Commitee Chair Les McPhee has led a renewed charge today, using Labor's campaign slogan of "delivering for all Victorians" as a test to prompt Daniel Andrews into a funding pledge.

“Funding for better health care in regional Victoria is always welcome – people in communities like Frankston, La Trobe and Maryborough deserve high quality care,” McPhee said.

“But the Labor party has ignored the northwest during its election campaign.”

The committee is also using its last days before the election to approach Labor's candidate for Murray Plains Peter Williams.

When asked about whether or not he believes it will happen prior to November 24 however, McPhee wasn't optimistic.

"We're hoping but it doesn't look well, especially this close to an election," McPhee said.

"However we will be pushing even afterwards; we need a new hospital."

It has now been more than five weeks since Matthew Guy and the Liberal-Nationals announced $44 million for the hospital as an election pledge.
