Central Rivers Board hands out punishment for supporter behaviour
The Central Rivers Board has announced that three Mallee Eagles supporters have been banned from attending any Central Murray & Golden Rivers Leagues’ venues or AFL Central Murray Academies for the next two years.
A player who abused the umpires after the match has also been given an 8 week suspension which can be reduced to 6 weeks with an early guilty plea.
The Mallee Eagles club was also held responsible for the behaviour of their supporters and fined $4000, with an early guilty plea this is reduced to $2000.
The sanctions arise from their behaviour at the end of the Grand Final football match between Woorinen and Mallee Eagles.
The three supporters were found guilty of "abusing the Woorinen players, AFL Central Murray officials and Board members, using offensive and threatening language and behaving in a way which disturbs the enjoyment of the match and brings discredit to their club and the league."
