New funding for SHDH

New funding for SHDH

$18.7 million of funding announced today

Victorian Health Minister Martin Foley has announced today that the State Government will be investing $18.7 million in Swan Hill District Health, to deliver an improved emergency department.

The redevelopment will replace the outdated emergency department and add a short-stay unit.

Minister Foley says once completed, the new emergency department will provide residents in the Mallee and surrounds with access to world-class healthcare, closer to home and shorter waiting times for patients needing urgent care.

"Swan Hill District Health’s nurses, doctors, allied health and orderlies do an incredible job, says Foley.

"We’re supporting them to do what they do best – saving lives and keeping locals healthy.”

The announcement has also been welcomed by Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp;

"“We’re giving local families in the Mallee peace of mind that world-class healthcare is on their doorstep, when they need it, and creating more than a hundred jobs during construction, says Gepp".

Swan Hill District Health was also one of 76 health services to share $160 million in funding from the Regional Health Infrastructure Fund (RHIF), Engineering Infrastructure Replacement Program and Medical Equipment Replacement Program.

It’s part of the Labor Government’s more than $8 billion pipeline of health infrastructure.

Work is set to start next year and finish in 2024.
