Pedestrian incident in Donald

Police have advised caution when travelling at night following two women were struck by a motor vehicle in Donald on Wednesday night

Emergency services were called to Racecourse Road just before eight o'clock.

A woman in her 40s has head injuries and was flown by air ambulance helicopter to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition.

Another woman in her 40s has back injuries and was flown by air ambulance helicopter to The Alfred hospital in a stable condition.

Inspector Haydn Downes from Swan Hill Police said that if travelling at night, to try and wear clothing that increases visibility.

Family violence funds announced

Minister for Prevention of Family Violence Gabrielle Williams this week announced $1.2 million to support 12 women’s health services across the state.

As a part of the support, Women’s Health Grampians, Women’s Health Goulburn North East Victoria and Women’s Health Loddon-Mallee will receive funding to continue their work across Northern Victoria.

In addition to nine regional services funded in the package three statewide women’s health services – Women’s Health Victoria, Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health and Women with Disabilities Victoria – also received funding to ensure their services are available where needed.

Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp said that the funding goes towards a community where women and girls are safe.

Mobile abattoir in Riverina

A company has been created in New South Wales which is the first licensed mobile abattoir in Australia and able to process animals on site removing the need to remove them from the farm.

Riverina farmer, CEO and co-founder Chris Balasz says it has been the result of years of development by his company Provenir.

MDBA Environmental Watering Priorities

The Murray–Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) released the Environmental Watering Priorities this week and said the main focus for the coming water year would be to avoid irreversible impacts on vegetation, fish, waterbirds and the important sites that sustain them.

MDBA Executive Director of Science Knowledge and Engagement Carl Binning said the priorities also highlighted the need to manage risks to water quality, with warm and dry conditions expected to continue into the coming water year which starts on July 1.

Golden Rivers Football League Round Ten preview

Ultima will take on Wandella in Round Ten of the Golden Rivers Football League this weekend.

Being the two top teams in the competition, Ultima has not lost a game this season. Wandella did lose to Nullawill in Round Seven but are in second place on the ladder.

These two teams faced each other in Round Four, earning a rare draw. With both teams kicking 9.14. The teams will look for bragging rights and to create some separation at the top of the ladder.

In other upcoming games Macorna will face Hay, Nullawil will take on Murrabit and Moulamein face Quambatook.
