Local Police Kept Busy By Reckless Drivers
Two recent speeding incidents have local police concerned that the message of the dangers surrounding speed aren't getting through.
A 28-year-old Maiden Gully man and a 21-year-old probationary driver were both caught speeding by over 40km/h last Friday, and Swan Hill Police Inspector Haydn Downes says the speeds drivers are getting caught doing are 'ridiculous'.
"It's not just yourself you're putting in danger; it's other road users as well." Downes said.
The 21-year-old driver was caught doing 143km/h in a 100km/h zone on Woorinen Road, and was also found to be almost three times the legal alcohol limit at 0.143.
The 28-year-old Maiden Gully was caught doing 138km/h in an 80km/h zone on Gorton Drive in Mystic Park.
Both drivers have had their cars impounded.
