Ceremonies being held in Swan Hill & Kerang

Swan Hill and Kerang RSL are commemorating Remembrance Day.

In Swan Hill, a ceremony is being held at the RSL cenotaph on Campbell Street, starting at 10:45am

Wreaths will be laid from community organisations and the local schools and The Last Post will be played prior to the minute silence at 11:00am.

Remembrance Day certificates will also be handed out to local schools.

President of the Swan Hill RSL Barry Townley says that it is not just limited to paying respects to the World Wars.

"It's not just the first or second World War, it's also Korea, Vietnam and all of the other wars and conflicts that have been going on ever since." says Townley.

Ceremonies will also be held in Kerang. Their service is being held at the Kerang cenotaph at 10:45am.

Following the service, a veterans assistance centre is being opened at the RSL clubrooms by the Military Brotherhood Military Motorcycle Club

President of the Kerang RSL Robert Hampton says that is an important resource.

"That will be to assist any veterans that want to call in any time to discuss matters about pensions or anything at all." says Hampton.

For Hampton, it is all about paying respects;

"Veterans like to get together and know what they've been through, because it's all in their own minds and just pay respect to those who have paid the supreme sacrifice."
