Errant Material Causes Wide-Spread Power Outage
A piece of metallic cellophane, typically used to contain flowers, has been identified as the cause of this morning's power outage across the Swan Hill region.
A PowerCor spokesperson confirmed the material had caused a feeder fault at the Memorial Road sub-station in Swan Hill, causing more than 2200 customers to lose power just after 10am.
All power was gradually restored within an hour and a half, despite initially presuming restoration would take as long as three hours.
The outage caused traffic lights around the region to shut down, however no incidents have been recorded.
