Swan Hill Cup Carnival

Over $480,000 is on offer over the one-day event

There's plenty of racing on offer over the Queen's Birthday long weekend, but all eyes will be on the Swan Hill Cup Carnival this Sunday.

Over $480,000 is on offer over the one-day event this year, with the major races all still running; including the Jarrod Arentz Electrical & Solar Solutions - VOBIS Gold, Pooles Accountants Golden Topaz and bet365 Swan Hill Cup.

Racing Victoria announced back in late-April several changes to the country racing calendar throughout May and June, including a reduction in the Cup Carnival from three days to one, owed to the COVID-19 pandemic.

CEO of the Swan Hill Jockey Club Aaron Garvie says with the public still not able to attend races, they're still looking to get people involved.

"We want to get people involved by letting us know how they're celebrating Cup Day," says Garvie.

"We want them to send in either pictures or videos to a mobile number and a email address and we'll have four prizes of $500 [Country Racing Victoria] vouchers."

Garvie also gave his tip for the big race.

"I'm normally too busy to bet on the day, but for the cup I do like number five, Heptagon."

"Mick Price and Michael Kent are very good trainers and it's got Dean Yendall riding it. Dean loves the Swan Hill track and he always rides a few winners."

The meet will get underway from 12:30pm.

Swan Hill will also be hosting the Mildura Cup this July, with Mildura not hosting races since the bio-security measures were brought in.
