Residents urged to vote ahead of deadline

Residents on the New South Wales side of the border have until 05:00pm today [14/05] to get their votes in for the Top Tourism Town Awards.

Swan Hill, Moama and Barham have been nominated across the Victorian and New South Wales.

Swan Hill Rural City Council Mayor Bill Moar said it was fantastic recognition for our region.

“Swan Hill has so much to offer for visitors, with attractions like the Pioneer Settlement, Heartbeat of the Murray, as well as cafés and restaurants serving fresh local produce, and parks and gardens along the Riverfront. There is something for every visitor.

“This recognition highlights the significant efforts of local tourism businesses and firmly positions the Swan Hill region on the tourist map,” Cr Moar said.

Murray River Mayor Chris Bilkey said the awards are an exciting platform to showcase local attractions and unique visitor experiences.

“The awards are about highlighting our towns’ amazing visitor experiences and showcasing the collaborative efforts of tourism operators, businesses, and the local community to drive the tourism economy.”

“With many businesses still recovering after restrictions and border closures, the awards are a great way to celebrate and promote our tourism assets.”

The winners of the Top Tourism Town Awards for NSW will be announced on Thursday, May 27th.

For the Victorian awards, people have until before 27 May to vote, going into the draw to win a Melbourne getaway for two.
